Captive Bird Society
Performance by Margarita Gluzberg

During this month’s late opening of Calvert 22’s current exhibition, Distance and Sensibility, Margarita Gluzberg will be performing as part of her installation Captive Bird Society.

Margarita Gluzberg has created a performance as sculpture, sound piece and installation that she describes as creating a sonic and visual landscape that deals with the mechanics of capture.

Using her collection of early recordings of birdsong that serve as metaphors for entrapment and desire, Gluzberg adopts the role of bird-keeper in her sonic aviary.
