Party at the Enchanted Palace *Kensington Palace* Kensington Gardens – London Sat 3rd & Sun 4th July 2010
Fancy a free and fun dance class in a magical location? Keen to discover what dances the princesses of the Enchanted Palace might have enjoyed?
Queens Mary & Anne – 1690s – 1710s
Queen Caroline – 1727-1737
Princess Charlotte – 1796 – 1817
Princess Victoria – 1830s
If you find yourself in London next weekend why don’t you join me for the open dance sessions on the lawns outside the Orangery at Kensington Palace? The programme includes Baroque, Georgian and Regency dancing workshops, demos and audience participation – led by the charming performer and choreographer Barbara Segal, co-founder of the Baroque Dance & Commedia Group Chalemie and teacher of Baroque dance and gesture.
Mary II and Anne would have indulged in Baroque dancing, Caroline – wife of George II – would have enjoyed Georgian dancing, whilst Charlotte would have known Regency styles, named after her father the Prince Regent, later George IV.
This event is part of the London-wide Big Dance Festival.
Sat 3rd & Sun 4th July 2010 1pm – 3pm, free and suitable for beginners!
