This upcoming weekend in London is literally studded with key artistic appointments: The Garden Marathon at Serpentine Gallery is marking the closure of the 2011 Gallery Pavillion, the 55th BFI British Film Festival saw its gala opening  last Wednesday 12 at the BFI Southbank and, last but not least, the Frieze Art Fair opened yesterday at its exclusive location in Regent’s Park.

Featuring over 170 art galleries from around the world, the Frieze is the must-see appointment for art curators, dealers, artists and creative people alike in London: the fair includes specially commissioned artists’ projects, a prestigious talks programme and an artist-led education schedule. My visit at the fair last year was frantic and exhausting, my first visit ever in 2008 was exhilarating and at times awkward, especially as I approached one of the leading London’s gallery owners by gracefully picking up one of their postcards, only to realize too late that the swivelling display rack was an artwork for sale…..Let’s see what the show will bring me tomorrow afternoon!
